The health benefits of hearing assistance, such as hearing aids or other technology, cannot be denied. We now know that there are serious health risks for those who let their hearing loss go untreated, including depression, anxiety, social isolation, and even dementia. Beyond these mental health risks, there are physical health risks, as well. Those who have hearing loss but do not wear hearing aids are more likely to have a serious fall, resulting in other health problems as a result. With these many health risks in mind, the decision to seek hearing assistance should be clear. Yet, another health risk has recently come to the attention of the hearing-impaired and deaf communities. When dangerous weather strikes, those with hearing loss may be at a greater risk of complications, including accidents and injuries.
